An investment in the CREF Money Market Account and the TIAA-CREF Money Market Fund is not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other government agency. Although the Fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in the Fund. The current yield more closely reflects the account's or fund's current earnings than does the total return.

The performance data quoted represents past performance, and is no guarantee of future results. Your returns and the principal value of your investment will fluctuate so that your accumulation units or shares, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than their original cost. Current performance may be lower or higher than the performance quoted above. Performance may reflect waivers or reimbursements of certain expenses. Absent these waivers or reimbursement arrangements, performance results would have been lower. Since Inception performance shown is cumulative for funds that have less than one year of performance history.
  1. Investment results shown here are after all applicable investment, administrative, and distribution expenses.
  2. Each business day, estimated unit values are usually posted between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., ET. Final unit values are usually posted between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., ET. On days when stock trading is particularly active, the estimated unit values may be posted a little later, and the final unit values may be posted the following morning. If the net change and YTD return figures do not appear, the unit values you're looking at are preliminary estimates.
  3. Net change from the previous business day. Both the "Net Change" and "YTD Return" columns for variable annuities are only updated once final valuations have been performed; this usually occurs at approximately 10:00 p.m. ET.
  4. To see the inception date, gross expense ratio and other information, click on or hover over the account/fund's name.
  5. The Account's Class R1 began operations on April 1, 1988.
  6. The performance shown for Class R2 that is prior to its inception date is based on the performance of the Account's Class R1. The performance for these periods has not been restated to reflect the lower expenses of Class R2. If these lower expenses had been reflected, the performance of Class R2 for these periods would have been higher.
  7. Beginning July 16, 2009, TIAA withheld ("waived") a portion of the distribution Rule 12b-1 and as necessary, administrative expenses for the Money Market. The withholding of expenses is voluntary in nature and can be discontinued at any time. Any expenses waived after October 1, 2010 are subject to possible recovery by TIAA from the Account for three years after the waiver. TIAA may recover from the Account a portion of the amounts waived at such time as the Class's daily yield would be positive absent the effect of the waiver, and in such event the amount of recovery on any day will be approximately 25% of the class's yield (net of all expenses) on that day. As a result of the share class conversion on April 24, 2015, previously recoverable amounts have been allocated to the newly formed Classes.
  8. The 7-day money market yield listed more closely reflects the current earnings of the money market annuity account than does the total return.
  9. An investment in the CREF Money Market Account is not a deposit of any bank and is neither insured nor guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other U.S. government agency.
  10. As of April 24, 2015, additional classes are available with different eligibility requirements. Please visit the account's prospectus at tiaa-cref.org for more information.
  11. The Account's Class R1 began operations on March 1, 1990.
  12. The Account's Class R1 began operations on July 31, 1952.
  13. Funds applied to TIAA Traditional from October 1, 2014 through October 31, 2014 will be credited with the indicated rates until February 28, 2015. Funds transferred to TIAA Traditional between October 1, 2014 through October 31, 2014 will begin earning interest at the beginning of the next calendar day following the effective date of the transfer, and will be credited with the indicated rates through February 28, 2015. TIAA Traditional is a guaranteed insurance contract and not an investment for Federal Securities Law purposes.

You may also view current rates for funds applied in earlier periods
  14. Interest credited to TIAA Traditional Annuity accumulations includes a guaranteed rate, plus additional amounts that are not guaranteed but may be established on a year-by-year basis by the TIAA Board of Trustees. The additional amounts when declared remain in effect through the "declaration year", which begins each March 1. The guaranteed annual interest rate is 3% for all premiums remitted since 1979 under all TIAA Traditional Annuity accumulating contracts, except that for Retirement Choice, Retirement Choice Plus, and IRA (issued on or after 10/11/2010) Annuities the guaranteed rate is between 1% and 3%, as specified in the contract. The minimum guaranteed rate applicable to contributions and transfers into the TIAA Traditional Annuity account under RC contracts during 2014 is 1.00%. This rate will continue to be guaranteed to these 2014 contributions and transfers for 10 calendar years. The minimum guaranteed rate applicable to contributions and transfers into the TIAA Traditional Account under RCP and IRA contracts (issued on or after 10/11/2010) from March 1, 2015 through February 28, 2016 is 1.00%. The account also offers the opportunity for additional amounts in excess of the guarantee rate.
Note: All IRA Minimum Distribution Option contracts and IRA contracts issued as a result of a divorce settlement will be given the same rate as the originating contract.
  15. Retirement Choice Inception Date: August 1, 2005
Retirement Choice Plus Inception Date: June 1, 2006
IRA (issued on or after 10/11/2010) Inception Date: October 11, 2010
TIAA Stable Return Annuity Inception Date: July 1, 2006
  16. TIAA accumulations are credited with interest based on when contributions and transfers are received, and your performance will reflect your pattern of contributions. The returns shown in the table reasonably represent what an individual making level monthly premiums would have historically earned over the time periods. Returns for different time periods are calculated in two steps: monthly performance returns are calculated from an accumulation created by a series of level monthly premiums over the prior 10 years (or the inception date of the product if later), and those monthly returns are linked together to determine historical performance for each of the return periods shown.
  17. TIAA Stable Value is a guaranteed annuity contract issued by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA), New York, NY 10017. Contributions from different plans are pooled together and deposited in a non-unitized pooled separate account to TIAA. This guaranteed annuity contract is not considered to be an "investment" or "security" under federal securities laws. In addition, the contract provides a guaranteed minimum rate of interest of between 1% and 3% (before deductions for contract fees). Contract fees are described in the annuity contract and are collected on a daily basis. Payment obligations and the fulfillment of the guarantees provided for in the contract in the accumulation phase are supported by the assets in the separate account. If the assets in the separate account are insufficient to meet these obligations, the shortfall is supported by the General Account of TIAA and is therefore subject to TIAA's claims-paying ability. Lifetime annuity payments are provided by TIAA, are subject to TIAA's claims-paying ability, and are not supported by the assets in the separate account. Past interest rates are not indicative of future interest rates.  This product is not a mutual fund, variable annuity or bank product. The obligations of TIAA are not insured by the FDIC or any other federal governmental agency.

As provided for in the annuity contract, restrictions may apply to certain plan sponsor and/or participant initiated transactions. Please refer to the annuity contract or certificate for further details.

The TIAA Stable Value minimum guaranteed rate is subject to change every six months; for the second half of 2013, it is 1.00%.
  18. The TIAA Stable Value Inception Date represents the date that the plan's TIAA Stable Value record was initiated on TIAA-CREF's recordkeeping system which may be earlier than the date of the first deposit to the contract. "Since Inception" performance is calculated from this date.
  19. Total return includes the reinvestment of all dividends and any capital gains distribution.
  20. The 7-day money market yield listed more closely reflects the current earnings of the money market mutual fund(s) than does the total return.
  21. Daily performance data shown above is from Interactive Data CorporationTM, and is updated at approximately 7 a.m. each morning. Month-end performance data is provided by MorningstarTM, and is updated approximately 10 days after month-end. Returns may differ slightly from those provided by fund families themselves.
  22. Accumulations in mutual funds not managed by TIAA-CREF may be subject to administrative charges. These charges are subject to change. Please review current documents related to your plan.
Annuities are designed for retirement savings or for other long-term goals. They offer several payment options, including lifetime income. Payments from CREF and TIAA variable annuities are not guaranteed, and the payment amounts will rise or fall depending on investment returns.
